After Bryce we got on route 12 and drove to Escalante, a beautiful area with amazingly majestic views all around. We found a great boon docking site off Hole-in-the-Rock Road just east of Escalante. Continue reading “Utah Trip – Part 3 Escalante, route 12”

Stampede Reservoir Campout
In Mid June, Ben, Charlie and I went to try out camping at Stampede lake. This is near Truckee and not as far to drive as Jackson Meadows but I had never camped here before. It is a huge campground with over 250 spaces. I was lucky to find one, site # 236 in the far west loop, and it was a gem. Nice path to the lake, decent spacing between campsites, level, near bathroom and water. I took the jeep and was able to check out some great 4wdr roads. Even got to the top of the Sierra ridge and could see all the way to Reno.
I was only there three nights and by thursday more people started coming in, became noisy. Best time is mid week or off season, after labor day. Here are some photos.
